Philadelphia Eagles versus Dallas Cowboys: 3 bold predictions
The Philadelphia Eagles host another hated rival in Week 8.
It’s a familiar time of the year if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. It’s ‘Dallas Cowboys Week’. The ‘Birds’ are preparing for a primetime Sunday night matchup against one of their division rivals with hopes of gaining some distance in the division standings. Philly is focused and zeroed in on this Week 8 game.
The tension rises in Philadelphia’s fanbase and locker room each time these two age-old rivals play one another. It’s a game that keeps fans both cheering and pacing in their living rooms.
With Dallas’ season slipping away, the time is now for the ‘Iggles’ to strike. ‘Dem Boys’ also understand what’s at stake and understand what this could mean for their season if they lose. No one expects them to go down without a fight.
Philly’s mistakes have turned possible blowout victories into losses, near losses, and a tie. This team has shown some fight though. Now, it’s time to put it all together. If you need motivation, here’s an old pregame statement by an Eagles legend that we’ve all heard before. If this doesn’t fire you up, check your pulse.
"“Can you feel that, that thing that’s beating in your doggone chest right now? Can you feel what’s about to happen on this field?” – Brian Dawkins"
Here are three bold predictions for the Philadelphia Eagles and Cowboys game.
1. Boston Scott will have over 100 yards from scrimmage.
Versus the New York Giants in Week 7, Boston Scott put on his Superman cape (again). He racked up 96 total offensive yards and wound up hauling in the game-winning touchdown. With the Cowboys pass and run defense lacking, this five-foot-six running back should be able to gash ‘America’s Team’ and have a big game, especially if Miles Sanders can’t go.
2. Darius Slay will register his first interception of the year.
Darius Slay still has yet to snag his first interception as a member of the ‘Birds’. The eighth-year veteran tallied five interceptions in the last two seasons (probably because quarterbacks avoid him), but everyone knows what he’s capable of.
The Dallas Cowboys will start their third-string quarterback and a makeshift offensive line, which means Ben DiNucci could be forced into some erratic throws. If he does, look for him to target Amari Cooper, who Slay will probably be shadowing.
3. The Philadelphia Eagles defense will hold the Cowboys under ten points.
Some may say this to be the boldest of them all, but is it? Last season, the ‘Birds’ held a better Cowboys team to nine points in Week 16, and without Dak Prescott, Dallas has shown nothing on offense. The ‘Iggles’ rank in the top ten in pass yards allowed per game, and they understand what’s at stake. If Philly’s defense comes with their ‘A’ game, there shouldn’t be any issues, and the ‘Birds’ can leave Lincoln Financial Field as the winners.
