Once again, the Philadelphia Eagles refuse to make things easy on themselves.

Well, what can be said about that? The Philadelphia Eagles hold serve with a 23-9 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8, but as usual, they refused to make it easy on themselves. Thank goodness they were playing a rookie quarterback making his first-ever start in the NFL.

Carson Wentz threw two perfect passes to Trevon Diggs, but as most of you know, he plays for the wrong team. Throw in two more fumbles by Wentz, and he now has 55 for his career. Expect the conversations about ball security to be hot and heavy all week.

This is the seventh time in eight games that ’11’ has had a passer rating that was under 90. The defense kept Philly in it. The offense did just enough, and the ‘Birds’ remain in first place in the NFC East despite having a record of 3-4-1. That includes a 2-1 record in the division.

What’s next for the Philadelphia Eagles?

The Eagles now enter their bye week. Their next stop on their ride features another game versus the hated New York Giants in Week 10. That one will be at MetLife Stadium. Dallas returns home to host the NFL’s only undefeated team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in Week 9.

The initial reactions following this one range from ‘a win is a win’ to ‘had this team played a better team, they would have lost’, but for now, the Philadelphia Eagles can celebrate something that they haven’t celebrated all season, a two-game winning streak.

Just like last week, there are more questions than answers, but at least we aren’t going to be breaking down another loss heading into the bye. ‘Birds’ fans everywhere will be hoping for another loss by the Giants on Monday Night Football and losses by Dallas, the Giants, and the Washington Football Team in Week 9.
