This offseason addition may prove to be the Philadelphia Eagles best.

Eagles fans are well aware of cornerback Darius Slay’s talent and on-field ability. The Eagles brought in the veteran cornerback to help their struggling secondary, which has been a mess for far too long. Though Slay’s level of play shouldn’t come as a shock, he has been as good as advertised.

Philly fans are collectively relieved as Slay has already made such a huge impact on and off of the field. The Eagles have had a terrible track record when it comes to signing big-time cornerbacks, Byron Maxwell and Nnamdi Asomugha for example, so any time this team has addressed the position, there’s always a fear in the back of every fan’s mind.

Slay has been as close to being a lockdown corner as one can be. Even when targeted and beaten for a reception (which isn’t often), it never breaks for big yardage. The three-time Pro Bowler also brings his skill as a tackler to the table.

Number 24 isn’t just the first difference-maker at cornerback that the Eagles have had in what feels like forever. He’s also someone that the Eagles can build a secondary around. If Philly can add some solid talent to compliment him, their defense will be almost impossible to score on.
