. . . Josh Sweat, Defensive End. 4. player. 54

The Philadelphia Eagles are getting production out of this fourth-rounder.

Birds fans saw flashes of what Josh Sweat could do last season, but the question was whether or not he could build on the success he had. The former Florida State Seminoles standout tallied 21 total tackles, ten additional quarterback hits, seven tackles for a loss, and four sacks in 2019. The ability was obviously there, and in 2020, Sweat has continued to demonstrate that he’s the real deal.

This young man has also cemented himself as a permanent starter for the Eagles moving forward. So far, he’s racked up 24 total tackles. That includes four tackles for a loss to go along with three sacks and two forced fumbles, and the Eagles are only at the halfway point of the season.

Sweat has shown an ability to close run gaps and read the opposing team’s offense, and that has helped kill some plays that would’ve gone for major yardage or maybe even points. Like fellow teammate Brandon Graham, Sweat has a motor that doesn’t turn off, and he will fight to get to the ball or until the whistle is blown on every single play.

The Philadelphia Eagles have many questions that still need to be answered throughout their roster, but the defensive end is not one of them, and at age 23, Sweat hopefully will be on the Eagles for a long time to come.
