These Philadelphia Eagles role players could help a playoff push.

It’s been a long bye week but Philadelphia Eagles football will be back soon enough. Head coach Doug Pederson got the team back in the Novacare complex on Wednesday so that they could go back to work. Based on this team’s performance through eight weeks, that’s a wise move.

This isn’t new for the ‘Birds’. There always seems to be a combination of injuries and poor performance that puts them in a tough spot midseason. That’s been the story in each of the past two seasons. They fell to 4-6 in the 2018 season and 5-7 in the 2019 season but rallied to finish 9-7 in clinch a playoff spot in both years.

This year, they sit at 3-4-1 with eight games remaining but a tough schedule ahead. Once again, they’ll have to rally in the second half of the season to find their way into the playoffs. With the state of the NFC East, it’s very possible that Philly wins this division. There’s a chance it could come down to the Week 17 game against the Washington Football Team.

If this Eagles team wants to keep their playoff streak alive, they’re going to need some big performances. While getting healthier will help and they’ll need their star players to step up, the role players will make an impact on the rest of this season as well. Sometimes a game may come down to which side has a better team around their key players.

Last year, ITI made a piece on 10 role players who could help the playoff push after the loss to the Miami Dolphins. Our list included the likes of Greg Ward, Josh Sweat, and Anthony Rush all of whom played key roles down the stretch. This year, we are doing it a bit earlier as we come off the bye week. With that said, let’s take a look at this year’s list.
