This Philadelphia Eagles defense continues to be a concern.

Duds: The secondary

It was hard to pinpoint one player in this Eagles secondary as the entire unit played awful. From Avonte Maddox to, yes, Darius Slay, this Philadelphia secondary was all over the field in Week 10 but often in the wrong place.

Here’s some context. Daniel Jones attempted 28 pass attempts. The Eagles only had one pass deflection. That isn’t going to cut it.

Coming into the season, there was already some concern about who would play outside corner spot opposite of Darius Slay. All of that concern was validated during this game. The Giants made a point to target Maddox’s side of the field, and normally, when they did, they succeeded.

Duds: The defensive tackles

The addition of Javon Hargrave this offseason was supposed to make this team’s defensive front an unstoppable force. At the time of this story being published, the Eagles are still among the league’s three best teams in terms of sacks, but they’ve unfortunately also dropped to 24th overall in rushing yards allowed.

Collectively, the interior of the Eagles’ defensive line is one of the most expensive units in the entire NFL. There’s no reason why this team should be getting gashed in the running game. The Birds’ pass rush is getting home, but there have also been times when big plays by this team have been immediately followed by boneheaded errors. It appears to be an ugly trend with this team.
