2021 Philadelphia Eagles offseason defensive roster outlook
Could the Philadelphia Eagles part ways with a five-time Pro Bowler?
Projections at defensive tackle: One of the bright spots this year for the Philadelphia Eagles has been the dominating defensive front. Their rotation has resulted in this team currently being ranked third in the NFL in total sacks, but because of salary cap complications next year, Birds fans may see some of the key players on this team leave a very talented defensive roster.
Fletcher Cox carries the second-largest cap hit for the Eagles and is signed through 2022, but for draft capital and to save money, the Eagles may put some serious thought into trading Cox in the offseason. Call it addition by subtraction.
Though health is all of a sudden a major concern for Malik Jackson, if he can stay moderately healthy for the remainder of the season, the Iggles may look to extend his contract in an attempt to lower his overall cap hit for the 2021 season.
Prediction: The Eagles trade Fletcher Cox for a second-round draft pick and extend Malik Jackson.
