Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Reasons Jalen Reagor continues to fail
By Hunter Doyle
The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t doing Jalen Reagor any favors.
It sure looks like Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor has been a disappointment on paper. Vice president and general manager Howie Roseman surprisingly took him with the 21st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft when Justin Jefferson was still available. Still, as the fourth wideout off the board, expectations for what Reagor could produce increased.
So far, however, the lack of production and the injuries have left quite a few Birds fans unhappy.
Rookie receivers Chase Claypool, Brandon Aiyuk, Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Justin Jefferson are all averaging more receiving yards per game than Reagor. The numbers don’t tell the full story though. Put Reagor in any of the situations that those guys are in, and he’d probably shine just as bright. He might even shine brighter if he was playing in a better system in Philly. Even if you want to argue that Reagor doesn’t possess the same ability as those receivers, he could certainly be producing at a similar level.
When the staff here at ITI watched some of the film from his most recent game against the Cleveland Browns, we saw great things from the rookie. Unfortunately, we cannot share the clips in this article due to copyright restrictions. All five of his games in Eagles green has produced some great tape, but he has yet to eclipse 100 yards receiving in any game that he’s appeared in.
Adding insult to injury is this. He could have had a 100-yard outing versus the Browns. He didn’t because of the same issues that have affected him all season. Quarterback play has been below average. The offensive line can’t hold up long enough for Reagor to get the ball thrown in his direction. The head coach doesn’t scheme the ball into Reagor’s hands with any regularity. It’s a mess. With that being said, let’s dive into some of Reagor’s plays from last weekend.
