The Philadelphia Eagles are just as disappointed as you are, if not more so.

As hard as it may be for some of you to believe the following statement, it’s one-hundred percent accurate. As fans and supporters of the Philadelphia Eagles, we’re all emotionally invested and always will be, but we could never be as bothered by what’s going on with this team as the guys who are living through it.

That means that no one’s more disappointed in Carson Wentz‘s performance than Carson Wentz. You aren’t more upset about the offensive or defensive ineptitude than Doug Pederson, and you certainly can’t be more irritated with the product that you’re seeing than Jeffrey Lurie.

The ‘new norm’ was supposed to consist of quality football and deep playoff runs. Instead, we’ve gotten bad playcalling, unexplainable losses, and a team that has regressed in each of the past three seasons.

The downward spiral for the Philadelphia Eagles continues.

Ever since they hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy in February of 2018 to conclude the 2017-2018 season, the Birds have posted back to back 9-7 seasons in 2018 and 2019, and after the first ten games of 2020’s regular-season campaign, they sit at a less than stellar 3-6-1.

Both of those 9-7 seasons resulted in playoff appearances. Almost two years ago, they came within a few plays and one last-minute drive of making their second-consecutive NFC Championship Game, but Nick Foles‘ final pass attempt of his Eagles career slipped through Alshon Jeffery‘s hands and into the waiting arms of New Orleans Saints corner Marshon Latimore. Last season, they were ousted in a home Wild Card game.

The Philadelphia Eagles are stinking up the joint, and the boss isn’t happy.

This season, if they qualify for the playoffs, the only reason will be that they play in the worst division in football because truthfully, none of the four teams in the NFC East deserve a postseason berth.

Here’s what’s crazy. The Birds are still in the hunt for the NFC East’s crown. Normally, that’s good news, but in this case, it feels like Philly is doing everything that they can think of to lose it. The defense looks bad. The offense looks worse, and it appears that the argument can be made that Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie has had enough.

Earlier this week, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer talked about Lurie’s unusual absence from an Eagles game. The boss was M.I.A. at FirstEnergy Stadium for Philly’s recent road game versus the Cleveland Browns, but the argument can be made that the COVID-19 pandemic and the concerns that surround one of the world’s worst global health crises could have been the reason.

Tim McManus followed McLane’s report with one of his own.

Though reports have flooded the web stating that Lurie skipped the Eagles Week 11 game out of frustration, that may not be the case. He could have been exercising some caution, and he hasn’t made any comment stating that he has an issue. Still, when you factor in the stories of him walking out of Eagles practices out of frustration, it’s hard not to ask if the boss may be at his limit. Remember, if you’re frustrated as a fan, how do you think he’s feeling right now when this is actually his team? Keep an eye on this one as this story might be a long way from being over.
