Where does this Philadelphia Eagles organization go from here?
By Ben Swanger
The Philadelphia Eagles have turned into a laughing stock: where to now?
This Philadelphia Eagles organization is a mere three seasons removed from a Vince Lombardi Trophy. However, now, this Eagles team is not only a bottom-feeding performer, but the front office is broken, and it’s being recognized on a national scale.
Philadelphia’s entire organization is undeniably shattered. Rumors and reports are flying in left and right, and they range from the quarterback conundrum to the owner, Jeffrey Lurie, skipping games, and everything in between, the Eagles are on the brink of destruction, and unfortunately, that destruction might be coming later rather than sooner.
The Philadelphia Eagles have failed on every level in 2020.
Playing in the worst division in the history of professional football, the Philadelphia Eagles should have waltzed their way to another division crown. Instead, this team rests in the league’s basement. Right now, the eyeball test tells us they might be the league’s second-worst team, only in front of the winless New York Jets, but who’s to say this team could even beat them?
The front office has failed the so-called face of the franchise. A franchise quarterback, albeit a poor performing one, should not have to look over his shoulder each day and see a second-round rookie.
The front office has failed to employ capable coaches. This team does not house an offensive coordinator. The quarterback’s coach is reportedly the quarterback’s best friend, and now, there are stories that the head coach reportedly wouldn’t be upset if he lost his job here? Yes, there’s an actual report that corroborates that.
Because this team is still just one win out of first place in the abysmal NFC East, the large, destructive moves some hope to see in Philly might not come until the 2020 season concludes, so where to now?
The Philadelphia Eagles are in jeopardy of losing out.
The argument can be made that it wouldn’t be the worst thing if the Philadelphia Eagles were to lose out. A three-win Eagles team is almost sure to see a shake-up, a new coaching regime, a new general manager, and a reshuffled players and coaches roster.
Competing for a trivial division crown does nothing for this organization. Residing in limbo is the worst place for a professional sports team. Being average creates hope, and fortunately for Philly, the entire country knows this team is laughably miserable with no hope in sight.
The Eagles are undoubtedly a bad team and the season can simply be summed up in a few points. The quarterback play has been dreadful. The coaching has been shameful. The young talent is deficient. On the playing field, the protection has been poor, and the defense has been inconsistent.
The Eagles are a bad football team. The entire league recognizes it, and it’s time that these players and coaches look themselves in the mirror and realize it too. The season was wasted. It’s over. It’s hopeless. Jobs will inevitably be lost, and a pure rebuild is inching closer.
