There’s no way the Philadelphia Eagles would move on from Lane Johnson right?

Depending on your age, you’re probably old enough to know this. If not, you’re probably a young buck. If the latter scenario describes you, here’s all that you need to know about Lane Johnson‘s tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles since entering the league as the fourth-overall selection in 2013.

One, he’s one of the five or six decisions that Chip Kelly was spot on about, Second, we’ve seen the Eagles’ offensive line both with him and without him. This proud franchise’s offense has always been better when he’s been on the field than they’ve been when he hasn’t been available.

Actually, it was his suspension in 2016 where we learned just how good he was and that Halapoulivaati Vaitai wasn’t quite ready for the NFL’s bright lights as he was taken to school by Washington’s Ryan Kerrigan. Sorry for bringing up that suspension by the way. We’re all just trying to paint a picture here.

Since that suspension, Lane’s been phenomenal (and even though he’s gone now, ‘Big V’ got better). Geesh. How many of you are Birds fans and thinking that you probably undervalued Halapoulivaati Vaitai?

Eight years into a great career, the Eagles are still better with Lane Johnson than they are without him. Here’s the issue. None of us will see him until 2021 after the Birds elected to place him on the team’s injured reserve for the rest of the 2020 NFL season. The question is now what?

Will he come back stronger than ever, or will he be a cap casualty next offseason? No one would be surprised either way, but if we have seen the last of 65 in a midnight green jersey, here are five potential prospects that could replace him in the next NFL Draft.
