Does this Philadelphia Eagles team really believe in a youth movement?

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to make bad personnel decisions.

On Tuesday, December 1st, the Philadelphia Eagles made a few waves by announcing several roster moves before their Week 13 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. One of which was waiving safety Will Parks, who they brought in during the offseason.

Now, while some fans might argue that Parks’ release isn’t a big deal, considering his contributions to this team were minimal during the short time he was in town. While it was true that he didn’t get a ton of snaps (or provide a ton of spark when he was on the field), it’s his potential (and the coaches’ mismanagement of him) that has fans (and the ITI staff) scratching their heads on this one.

Parks was brought in to be a hybrid safety for the Eagles defense, but Philly didn’t do anything they were supposed to do with this guy. Should there have been more competition to determine whether or not he or Jalen Mills should have been considered for the roster spot next year? That doesn’t seem to be in the cards now for the Philadelphia native.

If fans are frustrated by this move, you should be. The Birds had a young safety with massive upside, and his price tag was next to nothing, and let’s be honest. It’s no secret that Mills has stunk at safety. It has become a broken record at this point, but all fans have to agree that the experiment has failed.

The trend of keeping aging veterans on the roster continues for the Philadelphia Eagles. Seriously, this hasn’t been solved? Here’s something else to ponder. Will Parks was the apple of a few teams’ eyes, including the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers, but he’s now back onto the Denver Broncos roster.

That is just another sign that the Eagles’ roster decisions are costing this team in 2020 and will continue to do so in the future. Maybe things will work out. The Eagles still have to see what rookie K’von Wallace has to bring to the table, but the ‘youth movement’ that this organization’s leadership promised fans has yet to come to pass.
