Can the Philadelphia Eagles work some Lambeau magic?

Most of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ fans have given up. Just about everyone is ready to throw in the towel and play for a high draft pick. Others recognize that while a high pick would be ideal, it’s impossible to cheer against your favorite team. They won’t give up until it’s mathematically over.

The thought of hosting a playoff game in January is too enticing. The final five-game stretch for the Eagles begins with a game versus the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

For the Birds, this seems like an impossible game to win. Philly’s offense was dead on Monday Night Football versus the Seattle Seahawks, and despite back-to-back impressive performances from the defense, shutting down Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ offense is far from an easy task.

December is normally where the Eagles start to pick it up. In 2017, they lost to Seattle. They bounced back with a huge win versus the Los Angeles Rams but lost Carson Wentz. Then, they barely beat the New York Giants and Oakland Raiders in the following weeks. They won a nail-biter versus the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round of the playoffs. They knocked off the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots to win it all.

One year later, the Birds were pretty much down and out at 6-7. They faced two playoff teams in the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Texans in Weeks 15 and Week 16. They prevailed in both matchups. In 2019, they lost to Seattle and the Miami Dolphins before they rattled off four straight wins with the practice squad to clinch a playoff spot.

This year, it feels like there are a lot more internal issues. There’s a disconnect between the front office and coaching staff, and it seems unreasonable to believe the Eagles could make another run and that’s completely reasonable. Some of ITI’s staff doesn’t think it’s likely either, but anything can happen.

It’s a week-to-week league. Even though a high draft pick is enticing, the NFL only comes around for four months every Fall. The Eagles still have a chance at the dance. Here are four keys to beginning a run with a win versus the Packers.
