There’s a controversy brewing in the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback factory.

Here we go. You all saw it. It took 13 weeks for Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson to make the move most Birds fans had been clamoring for, but in the third quarter of their game at Lambeau Field versus one of the NFC’s elite, the Green Bay Packers, Coach pulled the trigger of a big gun that seems as though it doesn’t have as many bullets in it as it once did.

Philly’s franchise signal-caller, Carson Wentz, sat down. The rookie (and some say the incumbent), Jalen Hurts, stepped in. If you were frustrated and tuned out early, most Birds fans wouldn’t blame you. Watching this team can be depressing, however, if you did tune out early, you missed some fascinating television.

Yes, Philly lost. They always seem to do that these days, but they made a run before an incompletion thrown by Hurts on third-and-long short-circuited what was a 13-0 Eagles run. That was followed by a long, long touchdown jaunt by Aaron Jones that knocked Philly out for the count.

Wentz finished with 79 yards passing on six of 15 passing. Hurts almost doubled that. He went five of 12, and despite throwing an interception, he also threw for 109 yards and a beautiful touchdown toss on fourth and 18.

Guess what everyone in the NFL media and in the Eagles’ fan base is talking about today? Here’s an argument for both sides. Call it the tale of the tape if you will. We begin with a few thoughts on the rookie.
