The Philadelphia Eagles have upset the New Orleans Saints.

In what has been a frustrating season for the Philadelphia Eagles, one that was filled with injuries, a four-game losing streak, and a quarterback controversy, Philly scored their most impressive win of the season in Week 14. It was a total team effort. The result was a 24-21 victory, and in the process, the Birds snapped the Saints’ nine-game winning streak.

Huge plays were made across the board by the Eagles on both offense and defense. Here’s one final look at how they got it done.

Jalen Hurts gives the Philadelphia Eagles’ a much-needed boost.

In his first start at quarterback in the NFL, Jalen Hurts was rather impressive. There were doubts about how he might perform, and rightfully so. After all, he is a rookie. He exceeded expectations though as he threw for 167 yards and a touchdown. He also added 106 yards with his legs.

His only blemish on a near-perfect stat line was a late fumble that gave the Saints a shot, but otherwise, he did what he had to do to put his team in position to win the game.

The Philadelphia Eagles finally stuck with the running game.

All season long, Eagles fans have been pleading for their favorite team to run the ball, and when matched up versus the Saints, they did just that. Miles Sanders led the way with 115 yards and two rushing touchdowns. That includes a beautiful 82-yarder in the first half.

It’s obvious to everyone watching that the Eagles are a much better football team when they commit to the ground game.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense played lights out.

With the uncertainty of how Hurts was going to look, it was imperative that the defense played well. That’s exactly what they did.

After being criticized heavily following their Week 13 performance, Jim Schwartz’s guys came to play as they racked up five sacks, two of which forced the Saints into long field goals that were missed. The Eagles’ defense also forced two turnovers. Overall it was a complete team effort by the Birds, and while their work in 2020 is far from done, their fans should enjoy this one.
