To be a Philadelphia Eagles fan, you have to possess certain qualities.

Being a Philadelphia Eagles fan isn’t easy by any stretch. No matter how long someone has carried the flag, it’s likely that they’ll see some ugly games from this team. Every fan goes through the process. It’s inevitable.

Whether you witnessed this team losing the Super Bowl in February of 2005, the NFC Championship Game that concluded the 2008-2009 season, or the recent struggles during Philly’s most recent campaign, Birds fans have been through some rough times.

How are you feeling though? Are you energized? Worried about the future? Whatever the case may be, here’s some encouragement. As long as you remember what made you a fan in the first place, you’ll be okay.

Why? It’s simple actually. At some point, the Eagles will rise again. They always do. Consider this a call to arms if you’re an Eagles fan.

The most important quality for a Philadelphia Eagles fan is loyalty.

If you were to ask the most diehard Philadelphia Eagles supporters what the most important part of being a fan is, at least 90 percent of them will tell you that loyalty is the key. All too often, the NFL is overrun with fairweather fans, but if you know anything about the Birds, it’s this. Loyalty is the key.

Loyalty is shown in many forms. It’s the men and women who purchase season tickets every year. It’s shown in all of that Eagles-themed decor that you have in your homes. It’s even shown when fellow fans battle back and forth about Carson Wentz versus Nick Foles or Carson Wentz versus Jalen Hurts.

Call it ‘passion’. That’s a trait that an Eagles fan will never lack.

Let’s talk about Philadelphia Eagles fans and that passion.

Eagles fans and the fans of every other Philadelphia sports team are known for their passion. Whether it’s the men and women that pile into Lincoln Financial Field, the Wells Fargo Center, or Citizen’s Bank Park, the stadiums are always loud and rowdy.

Now when it comes to Eagles fans, they often get a bad rap for things that are both recent and ancient. Think of how many times you heard that they threw snowballs at Santa Claus. Think of how many times have you heard Birds fans boo their own team at home when they’ve played poorly (which recently has been quite often). It’s important to remember that Birds fans still love their team, but again, they’re not afraid to voice their frustration.

Oh, and one more thing Philadelphia Eagles fans. Don’t forget to hate Dallas.

There is an argument to be made for this being the most important quality in Philadelphia Eagles fans. Most Eagles fans would say they hate the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants more than any other team in the NFL (and Washington isn’t going to conjure up any warm feelings either).

Dallas is different though. Some of the guys that have come through that organization just make your stomach turn, like Jerry Jones, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Ezekiel Elliot. We won’t even get into those delusional fans. Who are we kidding? Is there anything redeeming about this franchise?

What else needs to be said? You get the idea, so let’s recap. Be loyal. Be passionate, and never be unwavering in the manner that you hate New York, Dallas, and Washington. Everything else will take care of itself. Consider this a call to arms.
