Philadelphia Eagles versus Arizona: 6 Questions ahead of Week 15
1. How much trouble is the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense in?
With the news of Rodney McLeod going on the injured reserve, Avonte Maddox being ruled out, and Darius Slay being in the NFL’s concussion protocol, it’s safe to say that the Eagles’ defense is in some serious trouble. Facing the Cardinals’ offense hasn’t been an easy task for any defense they’ve faced this year.
Think of Arizona’s offensive scheme as an air raid, but Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has done all that he can to attack out of hybrid formations. The Cards could run three and four wide receiver sets, 11 or 12 personnel, zone reads, and run-pass-options.
The Cardinals have found great success in doing this due to the arsenal of weapons that they have. The Eagles’ secondary is banged up and now has to contend with DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk, and Larry Fitzgerald. If that isn’t hard enough, they also have to find answers for Kenyan Drake, Chase Edmonds, and the maestro of it all, quarterback Kyler Murray.
Murray is an extremely mobile quarterback, who if pressed, will take off. He has the wheels to make multiple defenders miss in space. As Eagles fans are aware, their defense has struggled to defend mobile quarterbacks.
