Philadelphia Eagles: Examining 10 overreactions following Week 15 loss
By Ben Swanger
The Philadelphia Eagles lost again, but still authored ten intriguing narratives.
The product the Philadelphia Eagles put on the football field in Week 15 seemed to be a glimmer of hope. Rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts has proved he is much more than a spark. As a matter of fact, he might be a wildfire. Rookie wideouts Jalen Reagor and Quez Watkins contributed significantly. Despite the results, a decimated secondary stepped up. Finally, Doug Pederson showed some signs that he was better than his 4-8-1 start to the season indicated.
Despite the Eagles falling in a 16-0 hole to the Arizona Cardinals early in the first half, Philly fought back. If it’s possible for a team to assume the personality of a starting quarterback, Philadelphia assumed the mantra of Jalen Hurts. Hurts is widely known for his perseverance and mental fortitude throughout the college and pro football circles. The Eagles clawed back into what felt like a playoff matchup but unfortunately fell just short of the victory.
Now, Philly sits at a brutal 4-9-1, and barring a miracle, another magical ride into the playoffs for Pederson’s team has grown unlikely. There should be intrigue the final two weeks of the Eagles regular season, however, as the team takes on two divisional rivals in the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Football Team.
Before moving on to the Week 16 matchup in Dallas, let’s put a bow on this bird on bird brawl, as there is plenty to overreact to, or curb overreactions to. Let’s begin, not at the top of the depth chart, but at the bottom. Philly’s QB2 is first up.
