JJ Arcega-Whiteside, wide receiver. . player. 54. . .

At times, it’s easy to forget that ‘JJAW’ is still on the Philadelphia Eagles roster.

Tell the truth. Can you name five good things that JJ Arcega-Whiteside has done this season (or in his two-season career)? At this point, it’s difficult to even look at his name or see D.K. Metcalf thrive with the Seattle Seahawks without getting angry. Philly, in essence, wasted yet another draft choice on a failed wide receiver experiment.

Heading into Week 16, JJAW has one receiving touchdown for his career. That was on December 1st of 2019. The other touchdown on his resume pretty much came by accident. Philly’s other second-round draft choice, Miles Sanders, did all the work but fumbled. JJAW fell on the ball in the end zone.

19 also snagged a pass for a two-point conversion versus the Baltimore Ravens. These days, however, he’s looking up on the depth chart at Quez Watkins, John Hightower, Jalen Reagor, Greg Ward, Travis Fulgham, and Alshon Jeffery.

So yes, what you’re thinking is obvious. Bench JJAW? He’s already on the bench! You’re absolutely right, but that isn’t good enough. He needs to be a healthy scratch on game days. He was never ready for the bright lights, and he’s only gotten worse with time.
