Philadelphia Eagles shuffle their roster again ahead of Week 16
Two Philadelphia Eagles are not traveling with the team in Week 16.
The huge news that Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been activated for their upcoming divisional game against the Dallas Cowboys has been overshadowed slightly by the accompanying stories about more injuries that have other players are inactive for the Week 16’s game.
Earlier this week, it was already announced that defensive end Josh Sweat would be out for this one. As reported via the Philadelphia Eagles official Twitter account on Saturday, he’s been placed on injured reserve.
That’s not good news for the Birds, who are still trying to make a push for the playoffs. More bad news came via Eagles Twitter on Saturday as it appears that defensive end Derek Barnett didn’t travel with the team due to a calf injury.
This isn’t good news for the Iggles defensive front. Barnett and Sweat have played huge roles this season in keeping that front competitive and fierce all year long. Without those two, the Eagles will have to start defensive end Brandon Graham and reserve Vinny Curry playing in the starting roles.
The Philadelphia Eagles make more roster moves ahead of Week 16.
More roster shuffling has occurred as the Eagles have called up Joe Ostman and Jordan Howard from the practice squad to the active roster. The Birds also have signed defensive tackle T.Y. McGill and tight end Caleb Wilson to the active roster.
The laws of addition by subtraction seem to haunt this team forever. Just when (once again) Philly fans thought the Eagles were getting healthier, more players seem to go down. It is just incredible but fitting. Playoff’s on the line? Short-handed? Yep, it sounds like the Eagles in December.
No, this team isn’t facing the Kansas City Cheifs, but the Dallas Cowboys have more continuity than the last time the Eagles played them. In a game that many are feeling should have been a one-sided affair (leaning heavily towards the Eagles), now looks like it will be another nail biter.
