The Philadelphia Eagles still desperately need help in the secondary.

1. Cornerback

As discussed, the Eagles need help at multiple positions, but let’s not all forget that they have minimal to zero capital to spend this offseason. As intriguing as a Ja’Marr Chase pickup would be for this offense, the defense needs to be addressed first as they have less talent.

As a matter of fact, outside of that defensive line and Darius Slay, the talent level drops significantly. Not only do the Birds need a CB2, but they may also need to look for a CB1 of the future, considering Slay is already 30 years of age. As much as Philly fans love Avonte Maddox, he is, at best, a slot corner. With college prospects like Patrick Surtain II and Caleb Farley on the board, what the Birds need to do in Round 1 should be a no-brainer.

2. Safety

The Eagles also lack talent at the safety position. Fans already know that the Jalen Mills experiment did not work, and with Rodney McLeod coming off another knee injury and being over 30, this is still a position of great need. K’Von Wallace has an intriguing ability but is still raw at the NFL level.

With that being said, the Eagles’ first two picks could both be used to address the secondary unit. The free-agent market for both cornerback and safety isn’t ideal, and the ones who are worthy of a look won’t be in the Iggles price range.
