In mock draft 2.0, the Philadelphia Eagles bolster the secondary.

Back to square one. The Philadelphia Eagles sit at 4-10-1. They are the only NFC East team to be eliminated before Week 17. One quarter into the Week 16 showdown with the Dallas Cowboys, it felt like the Birds were going to make another late-season run. As we all know, the next three quarters were a disaster.

It might be a blessing in disguise. This team desperately needs a top draft pick. Despite making the playoffs in 2018 and 2019, they snuck in thanks to massive collapses by the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. They were mediocre to below average at best in both of those seasons until the last three or four games.

In last week’s mock draft, we had Philly landing two impact players in the first two rounds. With the seventh overall pick, we had them taking Alabama wideout and Heisman candidate DeVonta Smith. Then, we went with a former Eagle’s son in Round 2: cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.

This week, they’ll once again address some big needs with impact players but they’ll also fill out the roster a bit more. There might also be a few surprises. We don’t view them as surprised considering the Eagles’ decision making on draft nights in recent years. Some of the prospects on Day 3 could make a bigger impact than expected. There are always diamonds in the rough each draft but it feels like this draft might be a little deeper than usual especially in the secondary. Let’s hope Philly capitalizes on it.

Let’s get right into who the Philadelphia Eagles could land in our second mock draft.
