In Round 5, the Philadelphia Eagles land a wideout.

Many fans were expecting a receiver three picks ago. Right now, Howie Roseman is still the general manager. Do not be surprised if he decides to trust the current wideouts and bolster the defense in the first few rounds instead. Let’s hope that he takes notice of DeVonta Smith and Ja’Marr Chase but we’re not getting our hopes up yet.

Instead, we find ourselves with a very interesting pick in Round 5, to say the least. There is no news on whether or not Clemson wide receiver will enter the 2021 NFL Draft. He could return for his senior season. Ross was expected to have a monster 2020 season and solidify himself as one of the top receivers along with Smith and Chase. Unfortunately, in June, he had to have spinal surgery. His stock is clearly much lower now because of it which is why he could return to Clemson next fall.

If he doesn’t, the fourth or fifth round is the perfect place to take a chance on him. If he does enter the draft, his stock could rise as the draft approaches. Another team could absolutely give him a chance earlier than the fifth. If his stock doesn’t change, this would be the perfect scenario. There wouldn’t be a lot of pressure on Ross to be a top wideout. If it does work out, he’ll probably be a dominant ‘X’, or primary, receiver for years to come with his potential. I

In just 28 career games, Ross put up 112 receptions, 1,865 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns. With Clemson’s history of wide receivers in the draft, the Eagles should give him a shot if he falls to Round 5 as some think could happen.
