The Philadelphia Eagles need corners like Oklahoma State’s Rodarius Williams.

Oklahoma State cornerback Rodarius Williams is an excellent prospect, period. He has all of the tools to help the Philadelphia Eagles defensive backfield. Blessed with good size as a six-foot, 195-pounder with quick feet, a quick twitch, and the football IQ coaches look for, this could be one of those prospects that can patch the holes in Philly’s secondary.

Executive vice president and general manager Howie Roseman made a great move trading for Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay, and while the 2020 season was a mess, he was one of the few bright spots. Third-year corner Avonte Maddox has shown flashes but hasn’t seemed to take the next step the Philadelphia Eagles hoped he would. Once you get past those two, this team is loaded with question marks, and the answers don’t appear to be anywhere on this roster.

The older brother of Cleveland Browns corner Greedy Williams, the Lousiana native comes from great athletic stock. He has the ability to play in man-to-man on an island, or he can hold his own in zone coverage and be just as productive. He has a quick twitch and always seems to be in the right place at the right time, and despite only having two career interceptions on his resume, Williams is a true ball-hawk, with the ability to be a difference-maker at the game’s highest level.

A quick quote from Rodarius Williams that could interest Philadelphia Eagles fans.

ITI had the opportunity to speak with the Oklahoma State product and ask him what he feels he could add to an NFL Locker room. Here’s what he had to say:

"As far as my presence in the locker room, I am a guy that is a team-first player. I understand my role as a leader but also know that, at the next level, I will be the rookie and need to play my role. I am a guy that will work his tail off and do the right thing. I am always working and studying, wanting to be the best player I can be, the best version of myself possible. I speak with my brother all the time and he gives me advice on what to expect at the next level, advice on how to handle those things. As far as my play on the field, just watch the tape. Just put on the film and see what I can do. I know I fit in most if not all schemes, and I can help all over the field. I like being on an island taking away a wideout, but if they need me to kick inside or even play back at (the safety position), I will do it. I just want to play and prove myself every day."

When watching the film on Oklahoma State corner Rodarius Williams, it’s easy to fall in love with his potential. He’s capable of taking away an offense’s top wideout.

Williams has the tools to be a shut-down corner for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Birds’ roster is filled with holes, especially at the corner position. Adding a player like Rodarius would give the Birds someone with the potential to eventually be a number-one corner. Something the Eagles haven’t truly had since the days of Sheldon Brown and Lito Sheppard.
