3. B.G. and 86 are both back for the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2021’s season.

Those of you who love a great whodunit film can appreciate some of the mystery that comes along with waiting and pondering what your favorite team might do when the offseason comes around. In Philly’s case, there may not be a murder mystery to unravel, but discussing what this team may or may not do can lead to some pretty intense discussions.

You know about the salary cap issues. You know about the aging and expensive veterans. All that’s left to figure out is this. Who’s staying and who’s leaving? We know the 2021 Philadelphia Eagles will look a lot different from the squad we saw in the 2020 team photo before the craziest season in NFL history got started.

Here’s the skinny. Two of those veterans will be back. Zach Ertz, following an awful regular season by his own standards (and the standards of one of the NFL’s toughest but most dedicated fan bases), doesn’t carry the same trade value he had at the beginning of 2020, and he’s lost some of his negotiating power. He’s also signed through the 2021 season, so this team isn’t forced to make any immediate decision.

It’s also hard to envision a scenario where Brandon Graham isn’t on this team in 2021. With all the holes that this team has and with no guarantee that Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat will be able to produce if their roles increase, right now, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Philly allows a Pro Bowler to walk. It just isn’t a good business practice for a team that’s trying to get better on defense.
