The Philadelphia Eagles have five key contributors that must return in 2021.

Heading into 2021’s offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles might have the least desirable list of free agents in the entire NFL, however, there are five players deserving of a contract extension to stay in midnight green.

Coming off one of the most disappointing Eagles seasons in recent history, the roster turnover and coaching staff shuffle is sure to shake up this franchise. The 2021 Eagles are almost guaranteed to look drastically different than the team we all saw in 2020.

In terms of the coaching staff, the Eagles have already announced the removal of two senior offensive assistants, the exodus of veteran linebackers coach Ken Flajole, and of course defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. It’s also anticipated the Eagles will be hiring a true offensive coordinator for the 2021 season as candidates are beginning to shape up.

The roster, on the other hand, is a whole different story. General manager and executive vice president Howie Roseman will be retaining his job, for now, and he’s tasked with fixing the mess he created. Following the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl season, the teams Roseman has fielded have been slow, old, and injury-prone. Refurbishing this team, which has significant roster holes and salary cap issues, is not going to be an easy task.

The foundation of the 2021 roster rebuild, however, can be built upon these five Eagles who must be retained for the 2021 season. Here’s the list.
