The Philadelphia Eagles have a very exciting prospect on their list.

Well, this Philadelphia Eagles coaching search is certainly getting interesting, isn’t it? According to a report by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Birds are very interested in Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady for their vacant head coaching position. Now, this one’s pretty interesting.

Rapoport also reports that ‘Brady has interviewed for nearly every opening this circuit’. His is a name that you definitely want to jot down if you’re an Eagles fan.

Here are three things about Brady that Philadelphia Eagles fans need to know.

If you’re not familiar with Brady or you spend all of your time following Eagles football, there are a quite a few bullet points to make note of. Here are three. One, however, is concerning.

1. He’s highly respected despite his numbers.

To many, Joe Brady is one of the most creative minds from an offensive standpoint in the NFL today. Unfortunately, the numbers from his first season in Charlotte don’t suggest that.

The Panthers finished the 2020 NFL regular season 21st in yards from scrimmage and 24th in points scored. Now, Carolina introduced a new coaching regime and they lost their best player, Christian McCaffrey. That’s something to consider, but none of that, seemingly, has halted his rise.

2. The pedigree is definitely there.

Prior to landing in Charlotte, North Carolina, Brady has also served as William & Mary’s linebackers coach (2013–2014), as a graduate assistant at Penn State (2015–2016), and as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints where he learned by standing on the same sideline as Sean Payton and Drew Brees. He’s most known for the part he played in the LSU Tigers’ College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy, where he was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.

Under his guidance, Joe Burrow had the best season by a college football quarterback in the NCAA’s history. He also helped make Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase stars. To make long stores short, he’s battle-tested and NFL-ready.

3. He’s definitely a better choice than some of the other names we’ve mentioned.

Some of you may find this upsetting, but Brady is probably a better candidate than Todd Bowles. It’s been proven that Bowles is a great defensive coordinator. He isn’t a head coach.

Eagles fans should have gotten enough of Bowles after he served as their interim defensive coordinator in 2012. That didn’t go well. Keep an eye on Ohio State’s Ryan Day as well. According to NBC Sports Philly’s John Clark, he’s someone else that the Birds have an eye on.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens on that front as, earlier in January, the Buckeyes’ leader told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he had no interest in taking any interviews from NFL teams. That was also before the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Perhaps his stance has changed since then?
