Duce Staley, Eagles assistant HC. . player. 54. . .

Internal promotion is better for the Philadelphia Eagles than hiring McDaniels.

If you read ITI frequently (and thank you if you do), you’ve seen that our staff is split about something. Some of us don’t see Duce Staley as a guy we’d like to follow onto the battlefield for a battle with Sean Payton or Bill Belichick. We love him. We totally respect him and know that his players do too, but we struggle with what a Duce Staley gameplan might look like.

The rest of our staff sees things this way. Duce will bring the locker room together. He’ll challenge everyone to be better, and that’s what this team needs.

If he has the proper hire at the offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator position, he’ll be fine. He’s an Eagle through and through, and he cares about this team. That’s more than we can say about most of the candidates whose names have been tossed around.

Regardless of what side you’re on in that argument, here’s what we can all agree on. Duce is a much better option than Josh McDaniels, especially for this team. You take McDaniels and you subtract Tom Brady and/or Bill Belichick, and you have Kellen Moore. No, wait. Moore is one of the guys that the Birds are targeting too. Darn.
