There’s a lot going on with these Philadelphia Eagles these days, isn’t it?

Don’t look now, but the Philadelphia Eagles have taken on one of the traits of an old rival. Remember how we used to walk around laughing at the Dallas Cowboys for their dysfunction?

Well, who would have thought, in those days, that the Birds would morph into the team with the disgruntled quarterback and the running back who decided to speak out about how dissatisfied the team was with coaching decisions? Who would have gathered, back when we found great pleasure in picking on Jerry Jones and Washington’s Daniel Snyder, that Jeffrey Lurie was every bit the meddling owner that they were?

Fast forward to the present and Eagles fans are overloaded with stories about how power-hungry their general manager is, how uninformed and overly-opinionated the chairman and CEO is, and how there’s a possibility that their quarterback is a bit of a diva.

What’s sad is, though those stories are getting a ton of burn, there are other issues that should seemingly be more important, like the theories that this team might be one that a lot of guys don’t want to coach and how strapped this team is financially. Regardless of what happens, here are two things that keep working their way to the forefront of our minds, roster construction and shedding a few of these salaries that are holding the team hostage.

Might a new regime cut ties with some familiar faces to save this team some coin so they can be competitive with some desirable targets? It won’t be a one-year fix, but in the meantime, here are several Birds whose names could be thrown in the discussion of guys that won’t play their current deals out.
