Philadelphia Eagles hire 24th head coach in franchise history, 3 reactions
Well, how are you feeling if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan?
Be honest. If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, some of you may have already had your suspicions about whether or not he’s the guy, especially when you saw him get that second interview. Now, according to reports, including one by the highly respected Adam Schefter of ESPN (he may have been first with the news), it’s official.
The Eagles are going with former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni. He becomes their 24th head coach in franchise history. He’s only 39 years old. He’ll turn 40 in June. Let’s just hope, if you love the midnight green, that he’s wise beyond his years.
Sure, if you’re a fan, you probably had your heart set on Duce Staley. You wouldn’t be alone in that, but here’s something of note, at the time of this story being published, we were about an hour out from the announcement. 94 WIP-FM’s Jon Marks and Ike Reese Show dropped a poll, and there’s a lot of support for the hire.
According to rumor, one we’ve heard but really can’t verify where it came from, which again, is why it’s a rumor, a strong recommendation by Frank Reich may have helped sway Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie and vice president and general manager Howie Roseman.
National NFL Insider for FanSided, Matt Lombardo, spoke with a league source who had this to say via his Twitter account:
"From NFL source: Young energetic coach who is extremely smart, can relate with young and older players. Excellent teacher and development of talent … puts players in place to succeed based on their strong qualities"
If you still need more, don’t worry. Most Birds fans will agree. Here are three immediate reactions.
