. . . Gregory Rousseau. 13. player. 834

Here are a few more prospects for the Philadelphia Eagles to ponder.

Gregory Rousseau may have earned the title of the most interesting man of the 2021 NFL draft. After being redshirted his freshman year, he broke onto the scene in 2019 and recorded 15.5 sacks, second to Chase Young’s number of 16.5. Rousseau is also a physical specimen with his six-foot-seven frame and wingspan that is pushing seven feet, so why isn’t he higher on this draft board?

The sample size is why. He only played in one season at Miami because he opted out of the 2020 season, and while that season may have been wildly impressive, there are still many holes to his game.

He’s simply not a polished prospect and will require development. If the Philadelphia Eagles draft him at pick 6, it’s sending the message of a rebuild. Rather than taking talent at a position of need, they’d be drafting someone for their potential at a position of surplus. For this reason, Rousseau falls to 13 in this list.

. . . Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. 14. player. 819

Owusu-Koramoah represents the new prototype of NFL linebackers. He has blazing speed that will make him an optimal weakside linebacker for the team that drafts him. Unfortunately for Eagles fans, the defensive scheme of newly hired defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon is still in question, so it becomes tough to evaluate the role a player like Owusu-Koramoah might have on the team.

His 4.4 speed combined with his sound tackling creates for an attractive off-ball linebacker. He’s no Micah Parsons, but his game is certainly comparable.

The knock on athletic prospects like this is usually a lack of college production, but Owusu-Koramoah had a phenomenal senior year for the Fighting Irish. He was given the Dick Butkus Award, an honor given to the best linebacker in college football, and was named the ACC defensive player of the year. Keep an eye on his name in draft boards as the 2021 NFL Draft nears.

15. player. 872. . . . Trevon Moehrig

The last spot on this list of 15 is none other than TCU safety Trevon Moehrig, a player who we at ITI have been high on for a while. With Jalen Mills as a free agent and Rodney McLeod’s second ACL tear in three years, the future of the safety position is rightfully in question, but then again, what position isn’t in question for the Philadelphia Eagles?

Moehrig is widely considered as the best safety of the 2021 draft and for good reason. He’s rangy with tremendous ball skills and can create turnovers and make big plays. While his tackling isn’t something to write home about, his frame and aggressiveness suggest that some good coaching should fix that right up. You can’t teach speed, and speed is exactly what Moehrig has.
