Even before he was the 53rd-overall pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020, there wasn’t a Birds fan on the planet who didn’t know who Jalen Hurts was. Sure, his game wasn’t perfect, but that’s why teams have coaches. He wasn’t totally polished, but he was just as good as a lot of those guys that NFL fans and pundits couldn’t stop talking about.

What has always made Jalen Hurts stand out is the way he carries himself. He’s a grown-up, so much so that there are times when you want the guy to crack a few more smiles and enjoy himself.

We’ve admired him for his class and maturity when Nick Saban brought in Tua Tagovailoa in that College Football Playoff National Championship Game in relief. We tipped our hats to him when he came in to relieve Tua in that SEC Championship and saved the day.

We’ve always known that he was one heck of a football player, but we have also seen that he’s a good person. That second trait is more important, and recently, we saw him show that side again.

Jalen Hurts gives Eagles fans everywhere a reason to be proud.

Words can’t do this one justice. You have to see this for yourself. Take a look at Philly’s young signal-caller giving a young cancer patient’s family a life-changing gift, $30,000 towards buying a new home. The clip is courtesy of WVTM 13 News’ official YouTube channel.

Sometimes, you get so wrapped up in talking about a dude’s throwing motion that you can forget that these are people. They’re more than Madden rankings and points on your Fantasy football team. They’re living and breathing human beings.

Well done Mr. Hurts! Guys like you make it easy to cheer for you, the man you’re becoming, and the Philadelphia Eagles. You never pat yourself on the back for anything. Instead, you always talk about ‘the money left on the table’, so our staff at ITI thought that it was appropriate that we give credit where it’s due! Keep up the amazing work young man!
