The Philadelphia Eagles have one first-round question: offense or defense?

The Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of options with the sixth pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. They could trade up or down, but history suggests that they’ll stay put. That opens the conversation for who exactly the Eagles might select.

It’s unclear if the team is going to embrace the rebuild. Jeffrey Lurie stated in a recent press conference that the Eagles sacrificed their future years in hopes of short term success. He also said that he “doesn’t regret it” because he was hoping to “pull off another one”. Lurie did not explicitly use the word ‘rebuild’, but he certainly hinted at it.

The way the Philadelphia Eagles approach this draft will be indicative of their vision as an organization. They could decide to fill a position of need, such as linebacker, and try to compete in the 2021 season, or could opt to select the best player available for their long-term success.

Regardless, the debate of whether the team should select an offensive or defensive player will rage on until the draft itself. Let’s take a look at the arguments from both sides of the football.
