Philadelphia Eagles: The only five prospects that make sense in Round 1
Surtain would be perfect for the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense.
Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Patrick Surtain II could potentially be a generational talent for the Philadelphia Eagles and their struggling defense. At six-foot-two and 205-pounds, Surtain possesses the size, natural ability, and football IQ that defensive coaches can’t teach.
Considered by many the top defensive player in the 2021 NFL Draft, Surtain looks to be a shutdown corner at the highest level. Watching the game film on the Florida native, you can’t help but notice how offenses purposely avoided him at times. Even so, Surtain would consistently find ways to affect the offensive gameplan and ruin their night.
If the Alabama Crimson Tide product is still available when the Philadelphia Eagles are selecting, they should sprint to the podium and scream his name. Let there be no doubt. Adding a player with Patrick Surtain’s ability will give the Eagles a great player to help lead its defense for years to come.
While the urge to select one of the aforementioned star wideouts will be high, Patrick Surtain II can not be ignored if he is still on the board when the Birds are on the clock.
