3 Sub-radar linebacker prospects these Philadelphia Eagles should monitor
The Philadelphia Eagles need playmakers at LB, and Tony Fields could be that.
West Virginia linebacker Tony Fields II is a weapon and a player that could be an upgrade for the Philadelphia Eagles. Speed kills, and this six-foot-one, 220-pound rising star is a sideline-to-sideline missile that enjoys hunting down ball carriers.
He’s more than your normal three-down backer. Fields is just as good in coverage as he against the running game. Constantly coming downhill against opponents, Fields serves as a field general while diagnosing quickly what’s in front of him. He’s always on the attack.
While he played the middle linebacker position for the West Virginia Mountaineers, Fields would, more than likely, kick outside in the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive scheme, creating a solid duo with both him and Singleton.
Philadelphia will have to address the holes they have in the second level of their defense as soon as possible, and if they were to add a player like Fields, it would be a step in the right direction. With his unique combination of strength, raw speed, and football intelligence, Tony Fileds II could be an absolute star at the highest level of football. While he has flown under the radar for much of his collegiate career, Fields has the ability to be a household name at the professional for years to come.
