As sand continues to sift through the hourglass (there’s an old-school term that you probably haven’t heard in a while), the Philadelphia Eagles fan base is split on something (that phrase seems more common these days). Leading up to Super Bowl LV, there was a ton of discussion surrounding the second-overall selection of 2016’s NFL Draft, one Carson Wentz.

Some continue to defend him. How they can still stand on that is amazing, but they are. Then, there are the others. They’re on the ‘get him out of town as quickly as possible’ train. Depending on where you look, 11 has been mentioned in potential trades with the Indianapolis Colts, the New England Patriots, and the New Orleans Saints among others. Now, it appears that Mr. Wentz’s most realistic destination is in the ‘Windy City’.

Oh, but there’s more. One Eagles wiz seems to think Philly might get a former All-Pro out of the deal.

Howard Eskin drops a bomb if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

There may not be a Birds fan who doesn’t know who Howard Eskin is. He’s been talking about this team longer than some of you have been alive. Sure, he gets on your nerves sometimes, but the guy knows his stuff, and on the eve of the Super Bowl, he dropped a bomb via his Twitter account. Check this one out.

"Rumors all over tonight on (the) Eagles (potential) trade of QB Carson Wentz. Here’s what I’m told. Wentz and a draft pick (will be sent) to Bears for a number-one draft pick, QB Nick Foles, and RB Tarik Cohen who is coming off (of an) ACL injury but should be ready in September."

Here’s something from Natalie Egenoff, a radio and TV personality at 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly and NBC Sports Philly:

Now, if the plan is to keep Jalen Hurts, adding a veteran like Nick Foles to the quarterback room (again) could be seen as wise. Hurts just better not get hurt. Wow, that was tougher to say than it seemed like it would be. The point though is this. Can you imagine Nick Foles behind that porous Eagles line?

Here’s something else to mull over though. Adding a healthy Tarik Cohen to the Eagles backfield with Miles Sanders and potentially Jason Huntley and/or Elijah Holyfield could be fun. That’s if Philly doesn’t repackage some of these guys (that includes Foles and Cohen) and send them somewhere else.

Cohen was a Pro Bowler, a First-team All-Pro, and the winner of the Brian Piccolo Award in 2018. The latter honor goes to Chicago Bears rookies that best exemplify the courage, teamwork, loyalty, dedication, and sense of humor of the late, great Brian Piccolo.

The plot thickened as Cohen himself chimed in. Here’s an update that came at about 10 PM EST on February 6th.

Here’s how you make long stories short. Keep one eye on Wentz and the Eagles and another on whatever comes out of Chicago.

The plot thickens in the City of Brotherly Love with its beloved Philadelphia Eagles. The questions are about whether or not some of these rumors are true and if this team is just content to announce these moves (or others) after the Super Bowl. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
