Philadelphia Eagles draft profiles: Wide receiver DJ Turner
Pittsburgh Panther wideout DJ Turner is a five-foot-nine, 210-pound ball of fire that is blessed with quick feet and the soft hands to immediately upgrade the Philadelphia Eagles receiving corps. A versatile prospect, Turner is known for his punt and kicks return skills as well as the big-play ability that offensive coaches look for in their players.
Watching Turner’s game film brings back memories of former college and NFL star Percy Harvin with his dynamic footwork, extraordinary burst in and out of routes, and impressive vision. Despite being considered ‘undersized’ by quite a few NFL pundits, Turner has the skillset and the tools to be a legit threat in any offensive game plan.
The Philadelphia Eagles need to add a weapon like Turner if they want to compete.
The Philadelphia Eagles have not had a weapon like DJ Turner since drafting a young Desean Jackson in 2008. Despite investing a lot of draft capital over the past two seasons in the wide receiver position, the Eagles still lack a big-play threat at wide receiver. With Turner, Philly gets that and a weapon that can also be a weapon on special teams.
With the 2021 NFL Draft quickly approaching, it would behoove the Philadelphia Eagles front office to identify a talent like Turner that can boost both the offense and the special teams unit. If the boys from Philly are going to compete in the NFC and do so consistently, they’ll need to add real firepower throughout this crumbling roster.
Quick scouting takes on how DJ Turner can help the Philadelphia Eagles.
We at ITI reached out to our scouting source and asked his take on former Maryland Terrapin product D.J. Turner. While he did not want to be named, he did have this to say:
"I think people get caught up with him being five-foot-nine, but the guy is a real talent. Versatility is king in this game you know? The more you can do, the better, and Turner can do a lot on offense. He is a real weapon with great hands, and he is quick and fast. On special teams, he can take it to the house on punts or kickoffs. He will hit somebody if he needs to on all other special teams, I think he is a guy that gets on a roster and really blows up."
The long and the short of everything is this. Pitt Wideout DJ Turner would be an immediate upgrade to the Philadelphia Eagles offense and their special teams unit.
He’s a prospect who can create a big-play at any moment, and he has the football intelligence to act as another coach out on the playing field. The Eagles need to find talent, and adding a player like Turner would be a huge step in becoming a dominant offense again.
