Will the Philadelphia Eagles draft a quarterback with the sixth overall pick?
For the time being, Carson Wentz is still on the Philadelphia Eagles roster. The market appears to have dwindled after it was first reported that he’d be traded in a matter of days. That was about a week ago.
If the reports are true, the ones stating Howie Roseman wanted two first-round picks, then who knows if a deal will get done soon. Wentz is physically gifted and has had success during his tenure in Philly for the most part. Still, the Birds aren’t getting a Matthew Stafford-esque deal after Wentz’s 2020 performance. That shouldn’t surprise anyone.
That being said, the Eagles do have about one month to deal him. On March 19th, Wentz’s ten-million-dollar bonus kicks in, so ideally the Birds would want to move him before they have to deal with that dead cap. Conversely, there’s no reason for any potential trade partner to rush.
All that’s been said to say this. Even with the lack of progress over the course of the past week, it would be a huge surprise if 11 was on the Eagles’ roster a month from now.
If Wentz is traded away, the conversation will be about whether the Eagles should stick with Jalen Hurts or take a chance on a young quarterback with the sixth overall pick. The staff at ITI believes that the answer is a no-brainer. Here are a couple of thoughts on the subject.
