Philadelphia Eagles fans have more to cheer about than they think.
It seems like every story that comes out about the Philadelphia Eagles and their stumbling team has been one negative view after another. We here at Inside the Iggles are guilty of a few negative takes on our beloved team as well, even if it is warranted.
Owner Jeffrey Lurie and vice president/general manager Howie Roseman have a mile-long list of issues that they must aggressively address as soon as possible. If they want to avoid another season that looks like the one this team endured in 2020, one in which their franchise quarterback was fired and their Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson was fired.
With the rumor mill churning on Carson Wentz and his possible exit, a bevy of roster issues, and a lack of overall team talent, things look bleak for the Philadelphia Eagles and its passionate fan base. Still, even with all these dark clouds hanging over the Lincoln Financial Field, Birds faithful and their adored Philadelphia Eagles have a few bright spots to lean on that can shed some light during some very dark times. Here are a few things to smile about.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a few playmakers on the roster.
When the Philadelphia Eagles’ roster is mentioned, the first thing that’s often brought up is the lack of talent the Birds have. It’s easy to pick apart the giant holes across the Eagles’ depth chart and pick on them for the flaws that they have, but despite that, there are difference-making players on this roster.
Offensively, they have the versatile running back Miles Sanders to lean on. They also have a talented pair of tight-ends in Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert and some talented players that could rank among the league’s best at their position if they get coached up and healthy.
The offensive line took a huge hit in the injury department during the 2020 season, and it showed throughout the entire year. The great news is Brandon Brooks, Lane Johnson, Isaac Seumalu, and Andre Dillard will all be healthy and ready to go for 2021. That alone will be a huge boost to the team.
On the defensive side of the ball, Philly has one of the best defensive lines in the NFL, and a game-changer at cornerback in the form of Darius Slay. The point is this. The Philadelphia Eagles have a nice crop of veterans that they can lean on moving forward, and that could go a long way in helping this team find success in 2021.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a pair of talented quarterbacks.
Despite the rumors that Carson Wentz could be traded away sometime soon, he’s still on the roster right now. No matter where you land on the discussion about 11 or the regression he suffered in 2020, there’s plenty of reason to believe that he can bounce back.
Before all of this turned ugly, Philadelphia had a rising star in Wentz. He was one of those players that defenses feared when he was at his best. Philly simply needs to figure out if he’s still capable of being the guy that he was up until 2019 or if he’s just someone who’s falling apart slowly.
The more informed and educated guess says this. He’s still capable of being a star in this league if he finds his way into the right situation.
On the other side of the coin, if the Philadelphia Eagles do decide to trade Wentz, they have a second-year stud in Jalen Hurts, a young man who’s calmly biding his time. This is a true win-win for the Birds and their fans really.
If they stick with Wentz and he plays well, all will be forgiven in time. If they go with Jalen Hurts, the signs are there that, with the right direction, he can grow into an awesome signal-caller in his own right. It’s never a bad thing to have this much talent unless of course, it leads to a divided locker room.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a great opportunity in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Ask just about any Philadelphia Eagles fan, and they will tell you they almost expect Howie Roseman to screw up the draft.
We have all heard the storylines about Roseman picking one prospect when they had a chance to land another. We’ve seen his failures at evaluating both the wide receiver and cornerback position. Here’s the thing though. the same thing can be said about almost every general manager.
Every team screws up with their analysis sometimes. Every team misses on draft choices.
Here’s some really good news, however. The 2021 NFL Draft could be one of the deepest, talent-wise, that we’ve seen in a while. What’s even better is the Philadelphia Eagles’ biggest issues, wideout, and cornerback could be the deepest positions in this year’s class.
The Philadelphia Eagles pick sixth in Round 1, and the last two times they drafted in the top ten they hit on Carson Wentz and Lane Johnson. While you could argue the front office has been bad in the first round, you can’t say they haven’t been amazing in the top ten.
Philly needs to add more draft capital. They currently only have seven picks, which could swell to ten if they’re awarded compensatory capital. With this deep pool of talent, they could be afforded the opportunity to turn things around quickly in 2021 with a fresh start.
