Jalen Hurts proved he can handle the reigns of the Philadelphia Eagles franchise.

When Jalen Hurts took over for Carson Wentz late in the 2020 season, nobody was quite sure how the rookie would fare, but in his short time as the Eagles starter he proved he is a worthy starting quarterback in the NFL.

Hurts’ playing and leadership experience at top programs like Alabama and Oklahoma prepared him for the NFL in ways other prospects wished they had.

Coming out of Oklahoma, the knock on Hurts was his arm talent. His arm was far from the likes of the other four quarterbacks on this list, however he proved that he can launch a ball downfield with accuracy. He routinely hit deep passes and made them look nonchalant. He also displayed poise and confidence, but just like Wentz displayed with a crumbling offensive line, Hurts was susceptible to plenty of mistakes.

In order for any quarterback to succeed for the Philadelphia Eagles a competent offensive line must be upfront and there shouldn’t be any doubt that Hurts can succeed with one.

One of Hurts’ greatest weapons was his legs. He proved he knew when to give up on the routes and tuck and run. His ability to extend plays brought life to the offense in 2020, however every quarterback on this list the Eagles will have a chance to consider also has that running ability.

Hurts still has a leg up on Wilson and Lance due to his existing rapport in the Eagles locker room, however, the decision-makers in the Eagles front office could view the next prospect as a realistic replacement for Hurts.
