The Philadelphia Eagles need a big sophomore season from Jalen Reagor.
TCU product Jalen Reagor didn’t have the rookie season most expect or need from a first-round pick, but don’t be fooled. He showed flashes that should have created some excitement in the Philadelphia Eagles fan base for the future.
In today’s NFL, we all expect a team’s top choice to be a star right away and for good reason. If a player is good enough to be selected that high in any selection meeting, he’s expected to step in and contribute immediately.
Reagor was only to muster 31 receptions for 396 yards and a single touchdown in 2020. Those are modest numbers by ordinary standards, but Reagor provides some promise for the future. If you take the opportunity to go back and watch his rookie campaign, you might be surprised by how often he was open and how often he had a step on his defender. More often than not, he just didn’t get the ball.
Don’t expect that trend to continue in 2021 as Jalen Hurts never shies away from taking his shots down the field. Moving forward, Philadelphia Eagles fans should expect to see the Jalen-to-Jalen connection flourishing for years to come.
