When studying the Philadelphia Eagles‘ roster, no matter how many times we say it, there’s some difficulty in ignoring the depth chart is lacking. There are very few game-changers, and while the media’s attention has been locked in on the offensive side of the ball (quarterbacks, wideouts, and offensive linemen), this team’s defensive issues are arguably some of the worst league-wide.

With the 2021 NFL Draft approaching, Philadelphia Eagles fans across the country have locked in on their favorite prospects. Guys like wideouts DeVonta Smith or Ja’Marr Chase seem to be the favorites, but while both are talented and could be great acquisitions, there’s one defensive prospect at the linebacker position that the front office has to consider.

The Philadelphia Eagles defense could use a playmaker like Micah Parsons.

Penn State University linebacker Micah Parsons is a six-foot-three, 245-pound weapon. Blessed with the natural speed to play in space and terrorize an opposing offense, he has the sideline to sideline ability defensive coordinators dream about and the football intelligence to be a leader at the highest level of a game we all love so much.

The Eagles have lacked a difference-maker at the second level of their defense for some time. They lucked out in 2020 with third-year guy Alex Singleton, but he lacks the tools and skillset to be a consistent game-changer.

Here is a scout’s quote, one that could interest Philadelphia Eagles fans.

We at ITI sat down with a scouting source and spoke about the Penn State monster. While he did not want to be named he did have this to say:

"As far as linebackers go, I think Parsons could be one of the most dominant forces I have seen in a while. He hasn’t had the eye-opening career that others have had, but his potential is on another level. He is a legit three-down guy, and as long as he stays healthy, he could be an All-Pro type of player."

Imagining Micah Parsons in the Eagles defense could have fans salivating. Adding a player with his rare combination of size, speed, and athletic ability would give the team a potential star. If the Eagles are ever going to compete in the NFC and get back to another Super Bowl, they will need to stack their defense, and beginning with a building block like Penn State product could be the investment that turns the teams’ fortunes.
