Stop listening to Philadelphia Eagles fans about how the salary cap works.

Here’s something that isn’t going to go over well, but it needs to be said anyway. Once upon a time, there wasn’t an NFL aficionado on the planet that didn’t believe that the Philadelphia Eagles‘ fan base was one of the smartest in all of the professional sports. These days, even if you’re a Birds fan, it’s more difficult to argue that point as successfully as it once was.

Anyone who doubts this would only need to hang out on social media for a few ticks to verify. We’ll let you argue among yourselves about whether or not Carson Wentz should be honored like some hero, or if Jalen Hurts is the future, or whether or not Philly should take a quarterback at six.

It’s fine to debate. That’s what makes sports fun. The problem just comes in when we have to endure endless emotional tirades that lack any realism from guys that clearly have no idea what they’re talking about (and the anonymous threats that come from others).

Here’s something else that needs to go away. If you’re one of those people that has to respond to every statement about the Eagles possibly landing some talent by saying ‘But, they’re (fill in the blank) over the salary cap)’, the rest of us need you to exit stage left. You’ve missed a few things about how the cap works.

As far as those concerns go, place all of the tired narratives about ‘Philly can’t do this because of that’ in the category of overblown. Philly’s inflated salary cap number isn’t a death sentence, and there are always ways to ensure teams can fix their financial woes. That you can be certain of.

Here are three ways the Birds can get out of financial ruin in 2021.
