Hang around any college football fan long enough, and you’ll most certainly hear things like ‘southern bias’. No matter how hard we try, we can’t stop talking about Clemson (even if the rest of the ACC is down) and what’s going on with those historic programs like the ones we see on a week-in and week-out basis in the Southeastern Conference. If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, the same tends to hold true.
With the draft rapidly approaching, some of the Birds fan base has drawn a line in the sand, and they’ve been pretty specific about who they believe should be the choice at six. Lo and behold, a lot of the guys mentioned hail from the mighty SEC.
There’s Ja’Marr Chase (LSU). There’s Jaylen Waddle, Patrick Surtain II, and DeVonta Smith (all from Alabama). Recently, there’s even a tight end whose name is being thrown around a lot more frequently (Kyle Pitts).
Sure, there’s an interest in a few quarterbacks that hail from all over, but the reason we keep seeing teams take the talent from southern programs is for one reason. There’s some doggone good football that’s played in the South.
2021 produced a shortened season in the Big Ten Conference with games being canceled left and right, but we were all reminded of something. The conference that sports the word ‘ten’ in its name, a conference that actually houses 14 programs, goes out and recruits some ballers as well.
