Philadelphia Eagles draft buzz: An exclusive with Auburn star KJ Britt
Former Auburn Tigers linebacker K.J. Britt is a six-foot, 240-pound sledgehammer that any team would love to have in the middle of its defense. A true weapon roaming from sideline-to-sideline, this is a young man that would be the perfect fit for the Philadelphia Eagles‘ defense.
The playmaking linebacker has been a force in the SEC over the last four years. As someone who’s capable of playing anywhere in the defensive formation, Britt has the versatility to cover in the zone or come downhill and thump the opposing team’s running back. The former Tiger sets the tone with his aggressive play, but what might be the most impressive quality is his football intelligence.
Here is a quick quote from Britt that could interest Philadelphia Eagles fans.
We at ITI had the opportunity to speak with Britt and ask him what it’s like playing defense in the SEC as well as how he feels he could help the Philadelphia Eagles. Here is what he had to say:
"Man, playing in the SEC is not a joke. You know it is a guarantee that you will see the best of the best every week. You have to be prepared to face great players and you can tell when someone isn’t doing their job (working out, lifting, training, film study). You need to come with your best every day."
Moving forward Britt touches on how he could help an NFL team like the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I think, at the next level, playing in the NFL, I need to be who I am. (I need to do) what got me here to this point. I need to do that but at a higher level. I need to work on getting better every day. I know what I bring to a team. (I’m) a hard worker and a guy who puts the team first. Whoever picks me up is getting a dog, a guy that will set the tone every day and be a thumper on game day. I love this game, and I can’t wait to show what I can do at the next level."
It’s time the Philadelphia Eagles find a playmaker at linebacker.
The Philadelphia Eagles need to add talent to their defense, and it’s obvious. That’s especially true at the second level of the defense, where they seem to lack game-changing talent. Adding a player like Auburn Tiger linebacker K.J. britt would give the Eagles a true thumper and a player who could eventually become a leader on the field and in the locker room.
With the 2021 NFL Draft approaching, Philly’s front office needs to address the defense early and often. The Birds haven’t had a game-changer in the middle of the defense since Jordan Hicks. Landing the Auburn product could be a boost to this team as well as an investment that could pay off right away.
