The Philadelphia Eagles can’t forget about the tailback position come draft time.

Being a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles means that you’ll have to resign yourself to certain theories and hearing some of the same conversations over and over again. Every year, more often than not, we’ll hear talk about how great the roster looks on paper. Regardless of who this team signs or drafts, every offseason, they always need wide receivers, and cornerbacks, and linebackers.

Then, there’s the backfield. Call it a crazy theory, but ever since Andy Reid spoiled us during the days where he had Correll Buckhalter, Brian Westbrook, and Duce Staley, the word ‘committee’ gets thrown around the Eagles’ fan base quite often.

There have been times where we’ve actually seen the Birds make it work. Think about the 2017 squad that had LeGarrette Blount, Jay Ajayi, and Crey Clement. There have also been times when it seemed like Philly had no answers at the position. Then, there’s the present day.

Philly’s star, Miles Sanders, is amazing. He’s also five-foot-eleven and 211 pounds. We know Philly wanted to make him a workhorse last season and give him the full load, but ‘Boobie’ needs help. As the season wore on, there were too many moments where Miles looked like he could have used a day or two off.

Ladies and gentlemen, athletes have evolved, just in case you haven’t noticed. Defensive linemen and linebackers tip the scales at 265 pounds or more, and they run the 40-yard dash in just under five seconds. If those guys are allowed to smash into 26 twenty times a game, he’ll have a brilliant but short career.

The Eagles have to find him some help because Boston Scott, though talented isn’t the answer as a number two. That is unless Philly plans to schedule 16 games versus the New York Giants. It would be wise of this team to invest a pick in the portion during April’s NFL Draft. Here are three best potential prospects that should be available after Round 1.
