If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, let’s hope Over the Cap is right.

Round 6: Brandin Echols, cornerback, Kentucky

At five-foot-eleven and 178 pounds, Brandin Echols is one of those guys that looks like he’s headed for life as a potential slot receiver and special teams guy. Yeah, he’s an inch below that six-foot threshold that so many of you love so much, but he’s about four inches taller than Nickell Robey-Coleman.

Just think. It wasn’t long ago that so many of you believed him to be one of Philly’s answers on the defensive side of the ball. One year later, NRC is as good as out of here, and Echols is coming off of a season where he racked up 54 total tackles, a pick, and two pass breakups.

Round 6: Possible compensatory pick per Over the Cap: Deonte Brown, guard, Alabama

Well, everyone out of the Alabama program isn’t what you would consider being totally polished. Deonte Brown is six-foot-four and tips the scales at 350 pounds, but he’s a project that could even fall out of the draft entirely. He could also benefit by improving as a pass blocker.

In 2020, the Eagles drafted two offensive linemen from the Auburn Tigers. In 2021, they snag two from their rivals, center Landon Dickerson in Round 2, and the project, Deonte Brown in Round 6.
