Philadelphia Eagles draft prospects: Texas defensive back Caden Sterns
University of Texas Longhorns defensive back Caden Sterns is widely regarded as one of the most versatile weapons in 2021’s draft class. He’s someone who’s capable of being moved around the defensive backend, and this the Texas Longhorns product could be the perfect addition for the Philadelphia Eagles‘ defense.
Sterns possesses the rare combination of size (he’s six-foot-one and 210-pounds), speed, and football IQ. His athletic makeup has scouts in the National Football League watching his every move. A willing tackler, this young man has a nose for the ball and always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
The Philadelphia Eagles have to add talent to their defense in the 2021 draft.
The 2020 NFL season was eye-opening for Birds, the team’s brass, and their fans. Watching their beloved team get decimated by injuries, drama, and bad football, fans have been screaming for talented upgrades to fill the holes on this franchise’s roster.
General Manager Howie Roseman will have his work cut out for him as we head towards the 2021 regular season. As he sets out on this journey to identify and add prospects to his less than ideal roster, Caden Sterns could be the perfect addition to the Philadelphia Eagles defensive backfield.
This quote could interest Philadelphia Eagles fans across the country.
We at ITI had a chance to speak with our scouting source and ask him his thoughts on the Texas Longhorn. While he did not want to be named he did have this to say:
"Caden Sterns is more than safety or corner in my opinion. He fits the mold of the versatile defensive back that the NFL has seemed to roll out as of late. You can match him up on the outside and help in the passing game. Put him at the line of scrimmage to take away a tight end or a running back. Let him play in the box and he is a missile against the run game. He is a guy that does not get a ton of press so maybe fans don’t know about him. But he will go to a team and be a fan favorite. He can be that good."
The Philadelphia Eagles’ front office has a great opportunity in front of them. With the 2021 NFL Draft almost upon us, the Birds will be able to add talent to their roster on both sides of the ball. Caden Sterns isn’t seen as a potential first-round pick. He’s a player that could be worth an investment. He has all of the tools necessary to be a legitimate star in the NFL.
The Eagles would be lucky to add a talent like Sterns. If he’s available in the middle of this draft and the plan is to address the secondary in that area, the front office needs to make a move quickly to secure him.
