We could all agree that the 2020 Philadelphia Eagles season was arguably the worst showing of football that any NFL team has displayed in quite some time. It seemed like every week another big-name player went down with an injury, or there was some type of drama that kept landing in the laps of the media. Of all the teams that were struggling to hit their stride, it seemed as though the Birds were having the most difficult time.

Philly fielded a makeshift offensive line from week to week, and here’s the thing. When you add that to a so-called ‘rift’ between the guys in the locker room, here we are. It’s obvious why this team was never really consistently competitive.

Things are looking up for the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line in 2021.

Of all the issues that plagued the Eagles in 2020. None were as big a speed bump as the revolving door along the offensive line. While former quarterback Carson Wentz struggled to get anything going, the Birds’ injuries on the front line didn’t help anyone get comfortable. The results were a constant disaster.

There is a silver lining if you’re an Eagles fan. Moving forward, the offensive line will be healthy. It’s rare that a team expects to return so many players that are capable of playing at an all-pro level. Usually, a team needs to look towards free agency. The Eagles are returning three starters in 2021 that missed most of the previous season with an injury, right tackle Lane Johnson and offensive guards Brandon Brooks and Isaac Seumalo.

Here is an interesting take about the Philadelphia Eagles front line.

We at ITI had the opportunity to speak with an NFC East scouting source. We asked him what his thoughts were on the potential of the Eagles fielding a healthy offensive line. While he did not want to be named, he did have this to say:

"I will tell you this. Anytime a rival team can add players like (Lane) Johnson and (Brandon) Brooks. They are getting better. They really are. Those guys are great players and will be a huge difference for their offense. The new quarterback (Jalen Hurts) should have it a little easier. Plus, the other guy, (Isaac) Seumalo, is a real talent. They kept (Jason) Kelce around, and now you sit back and look at them. You see a really good offensive line."

Philadelphia could have arguably the best offensive line in the NFL next year. That will be dependent on their ability to stay healthy and whether or not third-year tackle Jordan Mailata can continue his rise.

Look for the Birds to run the ball more in 2021. That alone should be a boost to the team. Despite things being so ugly in 2020, they have true a truly talented offensive line as they approach the coming 2021 season. That should give fans something to cheer about.
