Gather around the campfire if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Believe it or not, we’ve got a very interesting story to tell you about the hated Dallas Cowboys. Yes, you read that correctly, the Cowboys.

By now, there isn’t an NFL fan on Planet Earth that hasn’t been over-inundated with more than their fair share of Dak Prescott news. On the second Monday of 2021’s third month, Dallas finally opened the purse as they inked Prescott to a four-year extension that will pay him $160 million with $126 million guaranteed.

Smile if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Here’s something of note. Prescott’s deal also grants him a no-trade clause, a no-tag clause, and a $66M signing bonus. That signing bonus is the richest in league history. If you’re one of those Birds fans that feel like you’re a little surprised that this deal doesn’t bother you as much as the extension of a superstar quarterback by a rival normally would, don’t be shocked. Dak isn’t really a superstar, is he?

Come on. Do you really think the Cowboys are going to hoist the Lombardi Trophy with Dak leading them? Oh, he’s good. He’s very good. He isn’t really great though, at least not yet.

A lot of those stats Prescott compiles come from the fact that Dallas is often in a shootout or trailing in the second half and has to pass to stay in the game. It’s almost the equivalent of a large career rushing total by a running back that played a lot longer than the guys he keeps passing.

Hang in there Philadelphia Eagles fans, the Cowboys are sailing on the Titanic.

Now, while we’d hate to rain on Dak’s parade or the joy of any Cowboys fan (yeah right), if you’re a Birds fan, you have to be smiling a little. Dallas will now be buried by the contracts of Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Amari Cooper now.

Dak’s getting superstar money and isn’t quite there yet. Elliott and Cooper were two young stars that seemingly got old really quickly. Both are beginning to show some obvious signs of deterioration.

Trending. Eagles are right to consider trading Brandon Brooks. light

Philly’s got their cap issues, a staple of the Howie Roseman tenure, but if there’s a bright side, their quarterback, Jalen Hurts, is playing on a rookie deal for the next three seasons. Dallas, on the other hand, is coasting through the deep blue sea on the Titanic, completely unaware that they’re headed toward a glacier that’s going to puncture the ship.

Give it a year or so tops, but it’s going to be fun to watch this ship sink. If you’re an Eagles fan, get your popcorn ready. Here’s a promise. The demise will be fun to watch when it happens
